Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)RCIA reaches out to those who are wanting to become a Catholic and a member of the faithful of the Catholic Church, both have a ministry to each other. This mutual ministry shows us that this process of becoming a Catholic is not just a matter of instruction or education. It is a process of spirituality, of God's call and our response....as a people of faith. The RCIA enables parish communities to come alive; it can deepen or refresh one's faith. It offers the privilege to parishioners to walk with those who are seeking to come into full communion with the Catholic Church. RCIA is about conversion, which means that we are involved in the way people grow, calling both parishioners and candidates to reach beyond who they are today and to continually re-form their attitudes and values about life and their lifestyle. Our RCIA team is a small group of St Rose and St Joseph's parishioners who welcome enquirers( adults and children 7 years & over) and offer them support, guidance, dialogue and prayer as they discern their readiness to be received into full communion with the Church. If you are wondering if the RCIA is for you there are many reasons why someone wants to become involved in the RCIA. Do any of the following fit you? I am interested in learning more about the Catholic Church. I am a baptized Catholic, but have received little or no formal religious education. I am searching for a deeper spirituality in my life. I have never been baptised. I am married to a Catholic, attend Mass but just don't know what the next step might be. I have been baptised in another denomination and wish to become Catholic. I have been baptised Catholic but have not received any other sacraments. I am of a non-Christian faith background and desire to know more about Christianity. The journey begins with one small step! Would you like to know more about RCIA? Then please give the parish office a call on 9982 1058 or email us parishoffice@josephsrose.org.au The Emmaus Series "I feel more than ever duty bound to point to the (Second Vatican) Council as the great grqace bestowed on the Church in the 20th Century: there we find a sure compass by which to take our bearings in the century now beginning." John Paul 11, 6 January 2001 This series of reflections is designed to help many Catholics react to the upheaval and change the Church is experiencing today and assist them in finding a balance. This Emmaus Series ..... * shows how todays's best theology can deepen and enrich our understanding of the main truths of the Catholic faith; * provides material for discussions which will give parish groups the common understanding and shared vision they will need in the decades that lie ahead. Discussions of the basic truths of faith carried out in the right spirit - an open and generous spirit, motivated by a genuine love of the Church as the bearer of God's Good News to the world - can help form the kind of community the Church will need in the challenging times which we are going to face before too long. Catholic Faith Exploration - CaFEThe CaFE program is a resource promoted by our Diocese to assist parishes to meet the needs and goals concerned with adult faith formation and education. It is intended to better equip our parishes to respond to the challenge of the Church's call to evangelise. A series of various modules are offered by which Catholics can explore their faith in a relaxed atmosphere leading to the development of small faith sharing groups within the parish. The heart of the CaFE groups is three fold: community, discipleship and faithsharing. These three elements are interwoven, each supporting and encouraging others: Community enables people to support each other in prayer and friendship. Discipleship enables spiritual growth to continue. Faith Sharing enables us to reach out to others and be active and dynamic in our daily lives. Our CaFE team would love to hear from you! For details regarding our next program please give the Parish Office a call on 9982 1058 or email us parishoffice@josephsrose.org.au AlphaThis course speaks to those who would like to: experience a heart to heart relationship with Jesus, meet new friends in a relaxed and welcoming environment and open new possibilities for their lives.
